這里選了四首在一般出版的鵝媽媽童謠集時常被刪掉的幾首童謠做介紹，分別代表著「因果循環」「孤獨」「真實事件」與「精神失常」。
誰殺了知更鳥

因為我可以拉鐘， 所以，再會了，知更鳥。 當喪鐘 為那可憐的知更鳥響起， 空中所有的鳥 都悲嘆哭泣。 啟事 關系人請注意， 下回小鳥審判， 受審者為麻雀。(注三) 此首「誰殺了知更鳥」也有人翻做「知更鳥之死」，是鵝媽媽童謠中相當著名的一首，國外的鵝媽媽童謠集一般皆會收錄，但來到國內，國內出版的鵝媽媽童謠集幾乎不會收錄這首「Who killed led Cock Robin?」。此首歌旋律輕快且優美，也是許多英國小孩朗朗上口的一首童謠。 「Who killed led Cock Robin?」內容描述知更鳥(Cock Robin)原本被天上所有的鳥兒喜愛，最后卻在小鳥審判(bird assizes)中死亡的故事。看似荒誕的童話故事，尤其是最后”下回的受審者”竟然是童謠一開始殺了知更鳥的麻雀，殺人者亦會受到審判，使得這首童謠更添加了因果循環的深層含意。 也有不少的推理小說或推理漫畫喜歡引用這首「Who killed led Cock Robin?」，如 S.S.范達因在 1928 年出版的著名推理小說“The Bishop Murder Case”(中譯為《主教殺人事件》)中即引用了這首與其余兩首鵝媽媽童謠，漫畫《毒伯爵該隱》中，作者由貴香織里也引用了該童謠繪制了番外短篇。知名日本推理動畫《金田一少年之事件簿》中的《獄門塾殺人事件》也引用了這首詩。
十個小黑人

曾以這首童謠為背景寫出了〝And Then There Were None〞(中譯名為《無人生還》)此本小說。 著名的懸疑驚悚推理大作《When They Cry》（又譯：《鳴泣之時》） 系列中的《海貓鳴泣之時》和《海貓鳴泣之時 散》中，作者龍騎士07從中獲取了靈感，寫下了整個劇情中占有巨大分量的《黃金碑文》 全文如下： 貫穿那懷念的、故鄉的鲇之川啊。 目標黃金鄉的人們呦，順流而下尋找鑰匙。 順川而下走到盡頭，終會到達“里”之所在。 在這里尋找兩人開口之岸。 此處沉眠著通往黃金鄉的鑰匙。 手持鑰匙的人們啊，應遵循以下所記出發前往黃金鄉。 第一夜，奉上鑰匙選中的六名活祭。 第二夜，余下來的人啊,撕碎緊靠的兩人。 第三夜，余下來的人啊,贊頌吾高貴之名。 第四夜，剜頭殺之。 第五夜，剜胸殺之。 第六夜，剜腹殺之。 第七夜，剜膝殺之。 第八夜，剜足殺之。 第九夜，魔女復蘇，無人生還。 第十夜，旅途結束，終至黃金之鄉。 魔女贊頌賢者，授予四件寶物。 一件是，黃金鄉里全部的黃金。 一件是，復蘇所有死者的靈魂。 一件是，復蘇曾經死去的愛。 一件是，用于使魔女永眠。 愿汝安詳沉睡，吾最愛之魔女貝阿朵莉切。 神主ZUN在東方project的第六作《東方紅魔郷》里，EX關與芙蘭朵露斯卡雷特的對話中也有用到，芙蘭朵露的符卡中也有【于是一個人都沒有了嗎】，還有一首正直者之死。
莉琪波登拿著斧頭
<3> Lizzie Borden took an axe (莉琪波登拿著斧頭) Lizzie Borden took an axe, and gave her mother forty whacks. When she saw what she had done, she gave her father forty-one. (中譯) 莉琪波登拿起斧頭， 劈了媽媽四十下； 當她意識到自己的行為， 又砍了爸爸四十一下。(注五) 此首令人發指的童謠「Lizzie Borden Took An Axe」，其實是由真實的故事改編而成的。 1892 年 8 月 4 日午前，瀑布河城銀行家安德魯波登（Andrew Borden）33 歲的女兒莉琪波登（Lizzie Borden, 1860~1927）突然對自家女仆呼喊，驚叫自己的父親遭人用斧頭砍死在屋內；醫師、鄰居等人聞訊陸續趕到，眾人進一步發現莉琪的繼母也被利斧擊斃于二樓。盡管莉琪波登因為涉嫌重大而被逮捕，歷經一年多的偵訊審判，司法做出了無罪開釋的結論，引起輿論嘩然。 案子審理期間法庭內外都有相當激烈的推理、辯論，有不少人直覺傳聞和繼母一直處得不好的莉琪有行兇動機，然而卻缺乏有力的犯案證據以及目擊證人；法庭上淑女形象的莉琪波登看起來無助而纖弱，贏得全以男性組成的陪審團（當時美國女性尚無參政權）同情，在一個多小時的討論之后，認定其人并非兇手。若不是莉琪殺了自己的父母，那兇手又是誰？對于這個案件的調查研究，一百多年來未曾間斷，各種耳語、謠傳更激發出無數文學藝術，甚至是紀念工藝品的創意；發生命案的房子，現在是瀑布河城能提供游客用餐，甚至居住的知名旅游景點。 不管真相如何，在充滿黑色趣味的鵝媽媽童謠渲染下（實際上兩位被害者總共僅被砍二十九下），大眾對莉琪波登的偏見更加根深蒂固，她的名字早已成了殘酷殺手的代名詞，多數相關的小說、電影作品，直接點名莉琪波登是兇手，并且在加油添醋的情節中，讓她受到報應。 但實際上被宣告無罪的波登和姐姐共同繼承父親遺產，賣掉兇宅，遠離瀑布河城的是非圈。波登后半輩子醉心于戲劇與文學，身后大筆財產捐贈予防止虐待動物協會（Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals）；愛護動物與兇殘殺手兩種截然不同的形象，讓莉琪波登的生平更增傳奇色彩。(注五)
一個扭曲的男人

(中譯) 一個扭曲的男人，走了一哩扭曲的路。 手拿扭曲的六便士，踏上扭曲的臺階， 買一只歪歪扭扭的貓兒，貓兒抓著歪歪扭扭的老鼠。 他們一起住歪歪扭扭的小屋。 此首童謠很明顯的描述一名精神失常的男子，他與他身邊的事物皆是「扭曲」的，歌詞描述的十分貼近現實精神疾病患者的模樣，以第三人稱的角度，來看待他的生活與身邊的事物，以「扭曲」代表與正常人生活相反的一面。 在黑暗的時代中，壓力過大以致于精神失常或發瘋的人不在少數，以現代來說，患有精神疾病的人其實也不少，他們的生活是「扭曲」的，在我們的眼里看起來他們也是「扭曲」的一群人，所以用「crook」(扭曲)來連貫這整首歌詞是非常貼切的。
三只瞎眼的老鼠

(中譯) 三只瞎眼的老鼠！看它們跑的方式！ 它們追著農夫的老婆， 她用餐刀切了它們的尾巴。 你這輩子見過像這樣的東西嗎？ 和三只瞎眼的老鼠一樣。 這首童謠后來被引用到偵探小說女王之稱的阿加莎·克里斯蒂的劇本，又譯為《捕鼠器》《The Mousetrap》是阿加莎·克里斯蒂最著名的舞臺劇，從1952年11月25日開始，每晚上演連續50余年、20000多場至今不衰，每晚都在創造新的世界紀錄。內容：時值二戰后百 廢待興的年代。新婚才一年的拉爾斯頓夫婦繼承了倫敦遠郊的蒙克斯威爾莊園，并登報招攬房客入住。很快，有四位客人通過登報確認的方式預訂了房間。 冒著紛飛的大雪，房客們陸續抵達，有絮絮叨叨的、神經質的小伙子雷恩先生，難伺候的博伊爾太太，軍人氣概十足的梅特卡夫少校，以及中性氣質的凱思維爾小姐。 暴風雪導致了交通的癱瘓，眾人被困在了莊園里。食物和炭火還夠不夠撐到雪過天晴？小夫妻倆不免擔心起來。一片忙亂中，不速之客接連到來——先是豪華汽車在大雪中拋錨、不得不跑來投宿的外國人巴拉維契尼先生，后是滑著雪橇、穿越被大雪阻斷的公路趕來的屈洛特警官。 警察為什么要這樣著急地趕來？因為他要來捕鼠。一位太太已經在倫敦被害了，據信是因為多年前的一起農場主虐待孤兒致死事件。在兇案現場發現的筆記本上，寫著蒙克斯威爾莊園的地址，顯然這就是兇手復仇的下一個目標。 這只瘋狂的老鼠究竟是死去的孩子的什么人？他/她真的那么容易被捕到嗎？ 答案顯然是否定的，警察要捕鼠，而兇手也在實施他/她的捕鼠計劃——新的謀殺很快就發生了……

Mother Goose(鵝媽媽童謠)擺在書店中，或許只是本不起眼的小書，其中也有著許多不被一般保守的人所接受的詞句，但深入探討它后會發現，這是一本極具深意的書。十八世紀至今，鵝媽媽童謠越來越廣為人知，涵蓋內容也越來越廣大，在趨向社會開放的現今，人們對死亡的話題已比較不會那么敏感，甚至可以不畏懼地侃侃而談，鵝媽媽童謠讓人走入社會的黑暗面，體悟到人性的真實面。 要找到完整的鵝媽媽童謠集其實并不容易，其原因大致可分為二，一是由于幾乎都是原文書籍，二是因為很多首歌曲皆被出版商刪除或改編，要找到一整本完完全全原版的鵝媽媽童謠真的是不簡單。但由于現今網絡的發達，可以藉由網絡訂購國外的書籍，也可以搜尋到跟鵝媽媽童謠有關的外文網站，透過這些方法都可以多認識鵝媽媽童謠。 雖然鵝媽媽童謠中有著一些血腥的字詞，但讀完它后，不會像看完某些充斥著血腥暴力的小說般病態的沉淪或依樣畫葫蘆的殺人，鵝媽媽童謠里那些血腥的句子，由于它的含意引人深省，雖然表面上看似會有不良的影響，但實際上它是十分正面的。以本文中舉到的幾首歌詞為例，透過「是誰殺了知更鳥？」可以學到人善與惡的因果循環，「十個小黑人」可以了解時代的悲痛，「莉琪波登拿著斧頭」讓我們認識了一樁真實的謀殺案件，其余還有很多有深意的鵝媽媽童謠，值得我們一一的探討與深省。
